Adapting to change is the key to Tom and Theresa Collins' business success.
In business for 35 years, the couple have had many business ventures, and
while all had a measure of success, it is the used car dealership, Central
Auto Sales that opened in 1996, that they both enjoy the most. Theresa says,
"Of all the businesses we have had, it is this one that we love and find the
most satisfying. We both enjoy dealing with people and providing good
service. We service what we sell and we attribute that to our success with
this business. People know we will stand behind every car we sell and we
will be here to help after the sale is made." They say they are glad they
can provide a relatively new, reliable car at a reasonable price, and also
provide the financing and warranty.
Located on Blockhouse Road next to the Placentia Mall, Central Auto Sales
maintains an inventory
of 25 to 30 cars and trucks, with additions weekly to
replace the sold vehicles. The company sells cars all over the island,
thanks in part to their online web site
www.centralautosales.ca.
By selling
cars with the warranty, as well as doing the service work, Central Auto
Sales has had to constantly upgrade to meet customer demand. They just
recently added a third bay to their garage and have increased their staff to
one part-time and two-full time workers. Theresa is on the front desk and is
office manager and bookkeeper, while Tom handles the mechanic end of the
business, helped by their son Tom, who is also on staff.
Accustomed to having more than one business operating at the one time,
Theresa, who operated an insurance agency in 1975, once again is back in the
insurance business. She has the agency for Southcoast Insurance, and the
company is now providing yet another service to their customers.
