Innovative Photography has proven to be a model of success through
diversification.
Starting as an in-house photography business, the company has expanded over the
past five years to include graphic design, a convenience store, safety supplies,
office supplies and equipment, and windows. "We have to live up to our name",
says owner Darlene Pomroy, who has constantly gone after areas where she has
seen opportunity.
Partnering with other companies in St. John's has allowed Innovative Photography to offer people and businesses in the area the opportunity to buy locally, which Ms. Pomroy recognises as being essential to the long-term prosperity of the region. Innovative Photography has also entered into a successful relationship with Voisey's Bay Nickel Company (VBNC), which has been a very positive learning experience and which now keeps Ms. Pomroy tapped into the latest developments at Argentia.
Ms. Pomroy attributes her company's success to hard work and a willingness to try new things. "You have to take risks," she says. "Maybe it won't work, and you can get knocked down, but you have to push forward and keep trying. You have to look for the opportunities and go for it".
